Supplemental Homelessness Intervention Program (SHIP) 2011-2012
Appropriation Level: $205,000
SHIP provides housing location and eviction prevention services to assist households that are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Housing Location refers to the process by which a homeless household is assisted to locate and move into safe and affordable permanent housing. Eviction prevention refers to the process by which households who are at risk of being evicted from their homes are assisted in securing their housing. Additionally, SHIP also increases housing stability and self-sufficiency through the provision of supportive services, intervention services, and relocation assistance. Households served under SHIP include non-custodial parents, young adults ages 18 to 25, and families who are eligible for benefits under the State TANF plan and have household incomes that do not exceed 200 percent of the poverty level.
