ATTAIN (Advanced Technology Training and Information Networking) 2018-2019

Appropriation Level: $4,000,000

The State University of New York University Center for Academic and Workforce Development (SUNY UCAWD) promotes digital parity, inclusion and access through Advanced Technology Training And Information Networking (ATTAIN), a network of technology laboratories located in some of New York State's most economically challenged communities. ATTAIN enhances the existing services provided by Local Social Service Districts (LDSS) to their TANF-eligible populations by using the latest vocational, customer service and life management software, computerized basic job skills training modules to supplement work experience, ESL, HSE, computer literacy and job search and resume preparation, and Internet exploration training programs. ATTAIN will continue to coordinate service delivery with both OTDA and LDSS' and will focus on the Family Assistance and 200% of poverty populations. There are 35 ATTAIN labs in locations established to reach individuals who are in receipt of Family Assistance or within the 200% of poverty designation. Twelve of the ATTAIN labs reside at Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC) and one at an Outreach and Counseling Center. In addition to the University's EOCs and Outreach Center, ATTAIN labs are located at community-based organizations, public housing complexes and other respected institutions and organizations within the selected communities. These locations allow individuals the opportunity to use the internet and developmental and occupational courseware in communities where they live or where they currently access services.
