Notice of Proposed Class Action Settlement

A settlement has been reached in Smith v. Proud, a class action lawsuit challenging the adequacy of certain notices used to reduce or discontinue benefits to recipients for failing to comply with work rules in New York City. This settlement was preliminarily approved by the Court on December 21, 2018. The Court has scheduled a Fairness Hearing for March 26, 2019. Policy Directives

Provide local social services districts (LSSD) and other interested parties informed about current OTDA program policy and procedures impacting OTDA programs.
