Disability Advocacy Program (DAP) 2009-2010

Appropriation Level: $1,000,000 (TANF Funds), $5,288,000 (NYS/Local)

The Disability Advocacy Program (DAP) program provides legal representation to individuals that have been denied or are in jeopardy of losing their Social Security Disability and/or Supplemental Security Income benefits. OTDA contracts with nine Legal Aid Agencies and two local Department of Social Services to provide legal representation services for Family Assistance recipients, Safety Net Assistance recipients and other low income households. OTDA also contracts with one Legal Aid Agency to provide training and administrative services.
